ISA Endowment Fund Re-Announces Opportunity for Scientists from Developing Countries

The International Seabed Authority Endowment Fund today re-announced the opportunity for the participation of two scientists from developing countries in a research cruise to study the seafloor hydrothermal system in the Indian Ocean organized by China Ocean Mineral Resources Research and Development Association (COMRA).

This opportunity was first announced in January 2010 with an initial deadline date of 5 February 2010. This deadline has, however, been extended to 12 June 2010.

The study will be carried out aboard R/V DAYANGYIHAO and will focus on the geology and geochemistry of the Southwest Indian Ridge. The successful applicants will be trained on the technology of geophysical investigation, geological sampling and analysis.
