ISA Streams Live Webcast of Geological Model Workshop

KINGSTON, JAMAICA.  The ISA Geological Model Workshop is being webcast live from its headquarters in Jamaica. The streaming will be of the presentations during the first 2 days (14-15 December) and the concluding session on Thursday 17 December.

The workshop began today, Monday 14 December and concludes Thursday 17 December.

In his opening remarks, ISA Secretary-General, Mr. Nii A. Odunton said that the Authority has benefited tremendously from the contractors and expert consultants who have procided additional data since the geological model project commenced in 2005.

The main objectives of the workshop are to improve the CCZ resource assessments, integrate available resources and related data, and to provide useful guidelines for prospecting and exploration.

The first two days of the workshop will include presentations by contributors and reviewers of the geological model and the prospectors guide. On the third day, participants break into four working groups designed to look at the extension of the model to other oceans, exploration technologies that are available for use in these efforts, environmental and education.

The recommendations from these working groups will be discussed in the final session.
