L’Autorité internationale des fonds marins a prévu d’organiser un atelier sur les considérations techniques et économiques liées à l’exploitation minière des encroûtements cobaltifères de ferromanganèse et des sulfures polymétalliques dans la Zone internationale des fonds marins (la « Zone »), à Kingston (Jamaïque) du 31 juillet au 4 août 2006.
Le document de base comporte des extraits de contributions faites à des ateliers consacrés aux encroûtements et gisements cobaltifères de ferromanganèse, ainsi que des cartes de prospection et d’exploration extraites des données provenant du répertoire central de l’Autorité.
