The President of the Assembly of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) for the 26th session, Ambassador H.E. Mr. Denys Wibaux from France, and the President of the ISA Council for the 26th session, Rear Admiral Md. Khurshed Alam from Bangladesh, have announced in a joint letter shared today with all Members of ISA the decision taken in consultation with the Secretary-General to postpone the face-to-face meetings of the 26th session of the Assembly and the Council to a later date during the year.

The meetings of the Council were scheduled to take place in Kingston, Jamaica from 19 to 23 July 2021 and the meetings of the Assembly from 26 to 30 July 2021.

Following a consultation with members of their respective bureaus, both Presidents concluded that the current situation related to the COVID-19 pandemic and associated travel restrictions were not conducive to face-to-face meetings.

Further information will be shared in due course to announce the dates chosen to hold the face-to-face meetings of the Council and the Assembly.
