The manual application forms for training have been phased out. All applications should be completed using the web form. Applicants are required to use the online portal to submit applications together with a copy of your passport photo, the signed nomination form indicating preference for either the geological or environmental programme, degree/certificate and résumé.

Marawa Research and Exploration Ltd. in accordance with its exploration contract for polymetallic nodules with the International Seabed Authority is offering two (2) professional development opportunities for one candidate from a developing member State and one candidate from Kiribati.
The professional development opportunity involves the attendance at the 2019 Underwater Mining Conference which will be held in Hainan, China 22-26 September, 2019. For more information about the 2019 Underwater Mining Conference, please visit: http://www.underwatermining.org
The professional development opportunity will provide candidates with the opportunity to attend the conference and technical field tours and learn more about the seafloor minerals industry. Candidates will also have the opportunity to network with executives and engineers from the leading firms, countries and organizations involved in the industry.
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
Applications should be submitted by email, in one of the official languages of the International Seabed Authority to training@isa.org.jm by the 9 August 2019 deadline either through:
(i) The online training portal. Users applying through the online portal (see above), must upload a copy of a passport photo, the signed nomination, degree/certificate, résumé, recommendation letters and cover letter; or
(ii) Email, in one of the official languages of the Authority using the forms below.
Marawa undertakes to cover visa application costs (if required), conference registration fees, travel (economy class return airfare), accommodation, and will provide a per diem for food and incidental expenses.
Within 2 weeks of completing the training, trainees will be required to provide to Marawa and the Authority Selected a short summary outlining the benefits of attending the conference and the knowledge gained on completion of the conference.
One of the Voluntary Commitments made by the ISA at the UN Ocean Conference 2017 was "Enhancing the role of women in marine scientific research through capacity building" - we therefore strongly encourage suitably qualified females to apply for these training opportunities.

Marawa Research and Exploration Ltd. in accordance with its exploration contract for polymetallic nodules with the International Seabed Authority is offering two (2) fellowships to candidates (one from a developing State and the other from Kiribati) the opportunity to attend the International Foundation for the Law of the Sea (IFLOS) Summer Academy under its 2019 Training Programme.
The IFLOS Summer Academy was established in 2007 and is a four-week course in Hamburg, Germany devoted to matters relating to both international law of the sea and maritime law. Lecturers are judges of the Tribunal, professors, practitioners and professionals from the law of the sea and maritime fields. The current Secretary-General has lectured at the summer academy in the past. The course is open to highly qualified graduates, government representatives and lawyers. IFLOS requires that candidates must meet the following requirements:

Users applying through the online portal (see above), must remember to upload a copy of a passport photo, the signed nomination; degree/certificate; résumé; recommendation letters and cover letter; OR via email, in one of the official languages of the Authority using the forms below.
All applications using the required forms and documents detailed below must be submitted to training@isa.org.jm by the 28 February 2019 deadline.
Once a selection is made by the Authority, the successful applicants' information will be communicated to the IFLOS Academy Selection Committee.
Marawa undertakes to cover costs associated with the training: course fees; VISA and airline tickets, if required, as well as accommodation and meals in Germany.
Within 2 weeks of completing the training, trainees will be required to provide to Marawa, the Authority and the IFLOS Summer Academy, a short report summarizing the benefits of the training, the knowledge gained and how it will be applied to their work/careers.
