Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Russian Federation

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation is offering five (5) training places, under two separate training programmes, in accordance with its exploration contracts for polymetallic sulphides and cobalt-rich ferromanganese crusts.

The two training programmes are as follows:

1.  Theoretical and At-Sea Training 2017 CLOSED

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation under its contract with the International Seabed Authority, for the exploration for polymetallic sulphides, is offering two (2) training places for candidates from developing States.

a) Part 1: theoretical course at St Petersburg State University (SPSU) for 3 weeks during May – June 2017. The curriculum will include:
•    Geology and mineral resources of the international seabed area;
•    Legal, environmental and technical aspects of marine mining

(b) Part 2: at-sea training, a scientific cruise on board the R/V “PROFESSOR LAGACHEV” in the area of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Duration: TBD, period: TBD.
•    Trainees will participate in practical geological work.

In addition to the direct cost of training, the Contractor undertakes to cover the following costs: ♦ travel to and from Saint Petersburg; ♦ room and board in Saint Petersburg; ♦ travel to and from the research vessel’s port; ♦ room and board on the vessel during the scientific cruise.
