On World Oceans Day 2022, ISA highlights the contribution of deep-sea exploration to the achievement of the goals and targets of Agenda 2030

During a virtual event held on World Oceans Day on 8 June 2022, the International Seabed Authority (ISA) highlighted the contributions of exploration contractors and the scientific community and the data and information they collect in the international seabed area (the Area) in support of the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Applications are now open for five (5) at-sea on-board training opportunities for candidates from developing States, Members of the International Seabed Authority (ISA). The placements are provided by Deep Ocean Resources Development Co., Ltd. (DORD), in accordance with its obligations under its contracts for exploration for polymetallic nodules (PMN) with ISA.

Applications are now open for six (6) at-sea on-board training opportunities for candidates from developing States, Members of the International Seabed Authority (ISA). The placements are provided by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea (MOF-ROK) in accordance with its obligations under both its contracts for exploration for cobalt-rich ferromanganese crusts (CFC) and polymetallic sulphides (PMS) with ISA.

ISA and Ifremer announce deep-sea taxonomy postdoctoral fellow 2022-2024

The Secretariat of the International Seabed Authority (ISA), the Republic of France and the Institut français de recherche pour l’exploitation de la mer (Ifremer, France) announced on 27 May 2022 the selection of Dr. Ranju Radhakrishnan from India as postdoctoral fellow in deep-sea taxonomy.
