Workshop Report

Representatives from academic institutions, maritime industries, contractors of the International Seabed Authority (ISA), NGOs, national agencies, international and regional organizations, and Legal and Technical Commission gathered at an expert meeting in Paris, France, from 28 to 30 May 2019, organized by the Atlantic REMP Project, with financial support from the European Commission, in collaboration with ISA secretariat.

The objectives of the meeting were to discuss case studies of “environmental management measures’ being applied in other marine industries, and to draw out good practices that could be considered by the ISA in developing the REMPs, with a focus on polymetallic sulphide deposits (PMS) on Mid-Ocean Ridges (MOR).
