ISA Secretary-General Mr. Michael W. Lodge recorded a lecture for the United Nations Audiovisual Library of International Law titled “The Legal Regime for the Deep Seabed under Part XI of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.”

The fifty-minute lecture covers five areas of UNCLOS:

• Part 1: History of Part XI and the 1994 agreement
• Part 2: The legal status of the Area and its resources
• Part 3: The International Seabed Authority and its organs
• Part 4: Regulation of ‘activities in the Area’
• Part 5: Dispute Settlement.
