The International Seabed Authority (ISA) is hosting the second edition of its Marine Scientific Research Information Webinar Series for Africa on 21 June 2022. The webinar will present ISA’s data management strategy, data analytics and their use for marine scientific research in the Area and ISA’s DeepData database. It will also identify ISA’s African Members’ priorities, challenges and future areas of collaboration for facilitating access to and sharing data on the marine environment in the Area, as well as for advancing the development of DeepData.

The Secretariat is inviting interested representatives of African States Members of ISA and their nominated experts/practitioners, as well as observers of ISA, regional organizations and non-governmental organizations to register no later than 3 June 2022.

Selected participants will be notified by 8 June 2022.

The webinar series builds on the activities of the Africa’s Deep Seabed Resources project and specific capacity-building and development needs identified by African States Members of ISA in 2020. The first webinar in the series took place in September 2021 and focused on mineral resources and technologies, providing an important opportunity to discuss African Member States’ strategy for advancing research on deep-sea mineral resources and mining technologies.
