The Secretariat of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) invites former participants of ISA capacity development programs to join the ISA Capacity Development Alumni Network (iCAN).

This initiative stems from ISA’s responsibility as per article 144 of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and the subsequent 1994 Agreement, to build capacity for developing States.

iCAN, in alignment with the ISA Strategic Plan (2019–2025) and the ISA Capacity Development Strategy (2022), aims to promote technology transfer, enhance participation in deep seabed activities, and establish an alumni network.

iCAN focuses on developing human resources, monitoring training impacts, and enabling collaboration.

Eligible candidates, having completed their training with ISA, can join filling the membership form on the ISA website. Successful candidates will receive formal confirmations after a thorough review.

Members will enjoy networking opportunities, access to ISA library resources, participation in network activities, access to one module of the ISA Deep Dive Course.

The ISA Secretariat looks forward to the official launch event of iCAN, uniting a community sharing passion and dedication about sustainable seabed exploration and the stewardship of the Area and its resources for the benefit of humankind as a whole.
