The International Seabed Authority (ISA) is holding, for the first time ever, an international workshop on “Capacity development, resources and needs assessment” to identify the priority needs of developing States, including Small Island Developing States (SIDS), Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Land Locked Developing Countries (LLDCs) in Kingston from 10 to 12 February 2020.
In-line with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science that is celebrated on 11 February 2020, high-level officials, contractors, representatives from international and regional organizations, academic institutions, scientific groups and former trainees will discuss how to maximize current actions to enhance the participation of women from developing States in ocean science and particularly, in deep-sea.
A press briefing will be held on the side-lines of the workshop at 10:30am, Tuesday 11 February, Caucus Room 3 at the Jamaica Conference Centre.
