Workshop for the development of a Regional Environmental Management Plan for the Area of the Northwest Pacific

The International Seabed Authority (ISA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea and the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology, will convene a workshop for the development of a  Regional Environmental Management Plan (REMP) for the Area of the Northwest Pacific from 26 October to 6 November 2020 (weekdays only), via an online meeting platform.

The Third Ocean Conference: Reflections from Madam Secretary-General Leticia Carvalho on the International Seabed Authority´s engagements

Last week, I attended the 2025 United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice, France, together with a small team from the International Seabed Authority (ISA) Office of Stewardship, Environment and Resources and Communications & Global Engagement Unit. From 7 to 13 June, the global ocean community came together to accelerate action and mobilize all actors in support of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.

ISA releases study on the potential impact of mineral production from the international seabed area on the economies of developing land-based producers of these minerals

The Secretariat of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) has commissioned a study to assesses the potential impact of polymetallic nodules production from the international deep seabed area (the Area) on the economies of developing land-based producer States of metals, which would be most seriously affected.
